Plymouth Arts Centre - Refurbishment 2011

From an initial appointment in March 2011 as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor, the design team was assembled, the design agreed, the main contractor appointed, listed building consent obtained and a site start achieved by July 2011. Practical Completion was reached at 6.30 pm 9 September 2011 – the opening night started 7.00 pm.

Internal alterations were carried out to improve disabled access which involved altering several different floor levels within a confined listed building and installing a platform lift to the Centre's cinema. The refurbishment also upgraded the reception with a new bespoke bronze lined and oak faced bar, oak flooring and an internal atrium. This makeover was timed for the co-hosting of the British Arts Show.  The project was supported by Arts Council England.
